Football Queensland to embark on ALDI MiniRoos Regional Road Trip

Football Queensland (FQ) will embark on a regional road trip around the state to host free football clinics for young Queenslanders throughout June.

With excitement building around the impending 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, the ALDI MiniRoos Road Trip will introduce football to youngsters in regional Queensland across 27 days in June.

The ALDI MiniRoos Road Trip will visit 13 regional communities with almost 1,000 youngsters aged between five and nine participating in the free clinics across the state.

“We can’t wait to give young Queenslanders in regional areas the chance to try football for the first time,” said Andy Allan, ALDI MiniRoos Development Officer for Football Queensland.

“There is so much buzz around the World Cup and this is the perfect opportunity to introduce new footballers to the game through the ALDI MiniRoos Road Trip.”

FQ Chief Executive Officer Richard Griffiths was equally excited about the regional road trip.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting free football clinics in the regions,” Griffiths said.

“The ALDI MiniRoos Road Trip demonstrates our commitment to regional Queensland communities by supporting clubs to recruit new players and mentor coaches during the clinics.

“The legacy element is an important part of the ALDI MiniRoos Road Trip.”

Building on the excitement of the upcoming World Cup, FQ’s ALDI MiniRoos Road Trip will begin in Bundaberg on June 1, before travelling throughout regional Queensland and concluding at the Sunshine Coast on June 27.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ kicks off on June 14 and the Caltex Socceroos’ first game will be against France on June 16.
