MIniRoos Football Returns: On-Pitch Training

Government and Member Federation rules, regulations and guidelines may affect the nature of training that can be performed.

Clubs and Program Managers are required to consider the following measures to ensure a safe training and playing environment for their participants:

(A) Where Full Training Not Permitted:

  • Clubs/Sites to provide pre-arranged training time slots with the maximum number of players allowed and according to each state or territory guidelines. For further information visit Football Returns Member Federation Directory. 
  • Players and Coaching Staff/program facilitators must observe appropriate social distancing and consider maintaining some small group separation at training. Ensure the training can adhere to one (1) person per four (4) square metres.
  • All football equipment to be allocated and set up on the training pitch in preparation for training prior to Players’ arrival;
  • Use more equipment and footballs per session to minimise resource sharing;
  • Only allow non-contact skills training drills (passing, shooting etc.);
  • Activities to be avoided include tackling, activities involving opposition and congested training in small areas;
  • Goalkeepers may work 1:1 with goalkeeping coach or integrated into small group training;
  • No physical contact allowed and no shaking hands, high fives, huddles or touching hands permitted when greeting or celebrating with teammates; and
  • Ensure 1-2 staff members or volunteers are responsible for carrying out the disinfection of equipment.

(B) Where Full Training Permitted:

  • Full training permitted – no time slots required and no restrictions on skills training drills;
  • All football equipment to be allocated and set up on the training pitch in preparation for training prior to Players’ arrival;
  • Only players and essential personnel are permitted at training;
  • Players and staff are still required to observe appropriate social distancing;
  • Limit physical contact and no shaking hands, high fives, huddles or touching hands permitted when greeting or celebrating with teammates;
