NNSWF visits the Big Cats Clash

Last weekend, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) were invited to the annual 'Big Cats Clash Gala Day' between Mayfield United Junior Soccer Club and Greta Branxton Football Club.

The Annual Gala Day is a competition for the Moyle Family Cup which is not like any of the typical competition style formats. The Gala Day had a twist where teams were awarded points within each game.

For the ALDI MiniRoos teams (Under 6s to Under11s) they earn points for good sportsmanship, best supporters, and other team related focuses that aren’t on winning.

For the age groups above, the competition teams, they earnt the same points, but also gained a bonus point for winning on the day.

NNSWF Development Officers Ross Hicks and Philip Andrews were judges for the day, resulting in Greta Branxton Football Club taking home the cup.

NNSWF MiniRoos Development Officers Brent Wallace and Steph Palmer took the inflatable shooting target along for some extra fun for the day. The target was a big hit with kids taking home some great prizes thanks to the Newcastle Permanent.

Steph said the Big Cats Clash Gala Day was a great initiative between the two clubs to engage with all players from MiniRoos to Senior.

“As MiniRoos games are focused on having fun and not just winning, it was great to have the senior teams focusing on the same concept as role models.”

“It was also a great opportunity to bring the inflatable target to the Gala Day which everyone had fun playing with.”
