MiniRoos is designed for kids of all abilities, aged 4 – 11 years. The nation-wide initiative uses short, game-based sessions to introduce the sport of football to newcomers in an inclusive way. It focuses on learning new skills, being active, making life-long friends and, potentially, unearthing the next generation of Subway Socceroos or CommBank Matildas.

Who is it for?

  • Boys and girls aged 4-9 years
  • Beginning and developing participants
  • Boys and girls aged 5-11 years
  • Children that are ready to and want to play on a football team
  • Girls aged 4-11 years

 

When is it played?

  • All year round
  • Minimum of 4 sessions – maximum of 12 sessions
  • April – August
  • Approx. 20 weeks
 
  • Kick-Off programs (year-round)
  • Club Football (April-August)

What does it look like?

  • Approx. 45 minute sessions
  • 1 coach per 10 participants
  • Modified games and activities to introduce participants to football
  • Average 1 training session and 1 game per week
  • Team-based games of 4v4, 7v7 and 9v9
  • Modified rules to promote inclusiveness, engagement and technical ability
  • Kick-Off and Club Football playing formats but in an all-girl environment

 

MiniRoos Player Pathway


The MiniRoos Player Pathway has been created to identify the standard process a participant would follow as they transition through the existing products under the MiniRoos banner. It also works to help identify the proper product for a participant that is dependent on age, ability and overall engagement in football.
